Men’s Health Month: It Begins With a Trip to Your Physician

June is Men’s Health Month

Men’s Health Month is celebrated across the country with screenings, health fairs, media appearances and other health education and outreach activities. The goal of Men’s Health Month is to encourage men and boys to be proactive in preventing health problems.

Men’s health is an important topic in all communities. As men grow older, the proper management of long term diseases like cancer, diabetes, heart disease, high cholesterol and obesity is crucial. Staying proactive about treatment and diagnosis of these diseases is key to improving men’s health and the health of our communities. According to the National Cancer Institute, prostate cancer is the second most common cancer in men in the United States. Additionally, it is the second leading cause of death from cancer in men.
