HealthStreet to Partner with UF Center for Arts in Medicine

HealthStreet is partnering with the University of Florida Center for Arts in Medicine to create programs for the community that emphasize art as a medium for healthier lifestyles.

Bringing the Community Together Through the Arts

Jill Sonke, the Director of the UF Center for Arts in Medicine is excited for the new collaboration, “The partnership between HealthStreet and the Center for Arts in Medicine is a match made in heaven. Artists are adept at engaging people, and the arts are an ideal tool for health education. The arts engage people socially and emotionally, and through visual art, drama, music or dance, the arts can communicate information in ways that people can understand and easily relate to.”

Coming Soon to HealthStreet

HealthStreet is already planning a few dance fitness classes for community members in collaboration with students in the Arts in Medicine program.

Classes will be designed to accommodate individuals of differing abilities, backgrounds, and ages, and promote a healthier community. Our partnering instructor will be offering two kinds of classes in the context of a six week series running from September to October; we hope you will join us!

For more information on the upcoming dance classes, please view our Events and Groups page or contact Erick Edwing at 352-294-4871.
