Did you know?

HealthStreet provides support groups and other resources for people diagnosed with cancer, including opportunities to participate in health research.

Our survivor cohort has over 900 people. If you’re interested in joining, call us at (352) 294-4880.

Research at HealthStreet.

Are you interested in participating in research?

UF researchers conduct many different kinds of research studies, including clinical trials. Some studies focus on enrolling volunteers with certain health conditions, while others need healthy volunteers.

HealthStreet is currently navigating people to many of these studies, some of which you can complete in minutes.

Here is one such study in which you might be interested:

  1. A study to examine the effects of brain stimulation and brain training on thinking and memory improvement.

Call or come by for more information about this study or to learn about other opportunities to participate in improving the health of our community (352-294-4880).

HealthStreet’s Cancer Research Engagement Program also provides numerous opportunities for community members to participate in health research at the University of Florida.

These are a few of the studies we are currently recruiting for:

  1. A study that tests an intervention using virtual human technology (VH) to improve communication with patients about colorectal cancer (CRC) and increase CRC screening.
  2. A study that tests the efficacy of a computerized stress reduction program along with guided audio-visual exercises on the reduction of stress and pain in people who have Sickle Cell or cancer.
  3. A study that compares the effects of different weight-loss strategies on women diagnosed with HER-2 negative, stage II and III breast cancer who fall within the overweight and obese range (BMI 27 kg/m2 – ≥30kg/m2).

If you are interested in hearing more about these and other studies, please contact Teina Phillips at 352-294-4884.

Visit our Cancer Research Engagement Program web page for health education and medical and social resources devoted to cancer.

Resources for Researchers.

UF HealthStreet’s Community Health Workers (CHWs) conduct community outreach every day in order to recruit new HealthStreet members and link them to University of Florida research studies. We regularly check our member database (10,350+ and growing) for members who may be eligible to participate in studies.

HealthStreet Community Members

About HealthStreet

HealthStreet is a community engagement program that connects community members to medical and social services and opportunities to participate in health research at the University of Florida. By completing a health assessment with one of our Community Health Workers, we can provide you with information about low or no-cost services, including eye exams, mental health counseling, dance classes, cooking classes, health support groups, and a clothing closet and toiletry pantry. Your voice is important, and you can be heard by becoming a HealthStreet member!
