HealthStreet Newsletter Issue 91: February 2021

HealthStreet Newsletter: Issue 91

This week is National Eating Disorder Association Awareness Week. Eating disorders can affect anyone regardless of gender, race, or socioeconomic status. If untreated, eating disorders can be serious. If you, or someone you know, has an eating disorder, please seek help. In 2019, we published our HealthStreet findings on eating disorders and willingness of individuals with eating disorders to participate in health research. We found that nearly 4% of our cohort reported an eating disorder; those with eating disorders were more likely than those without eating disorders to be willing to participate in health research. Take a confidential online screening quiz sponsored by the National Eating Disorder Association or call their toll-free, confidential helpline at 1-800-931-2237 for more information.

February 2021 is National Eating Disorder Awareness Month

February HealthStreet Events

HealthStreet has connected 6,000+ members to research studies.

Thank you to all our community members for participating!

The goal of health related research is to develop generalizable knowledge that has the potential to improve people’s lives and/or increase understanding of health and disease. Through community and other stakeholder engagement, we can better understand the priorities of the community — their health problems and concerns. Only through broad participation in community-relevant research can we hope to reduce disparities in healthcare and health outcomes.
