National and International events for

Mental Illness Awareness Week 2020

○ NAMI has a series of events for Mental Illness Awareness Week. More information can be found here

○ United for Global Mental Health, along with WHO and World Federation for Mental Health (WFMH), are calling on people around the world to participate in the world’s first 24-hour virtual March for Mental Health on October 9th, 2020.

○ World Health Organization (WHO) is organizing "The Big Event for Mental Health" on October 10th, 2020.

Online Resources for Mental Health

Alachua County Crisis Center Helpline- 352-264-6789

National Suicide Hotline1-800-SUICIDE (784-2433)

National Suicide Prevention Lifeline1-800-273-TALK(8255)

○ University of Florida's Recreational Sports conducts online activities program called SPARK which includes Strength Training, Cardio, Yoga and Stretching, Balance, Dance and Games.

○ University of Florida's GatorWell hosts virtual services which include Wellness coaching, Mindfulness consultation and sleep consultations.

○ Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) National Helpline- 1-800-662-HELP (4357), is a free, confidential, 24/7, 365-day-a-year treatment referral and information service (in English and Spanish) for individuals and families facing mental and/or substance use disorders.

○ National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH) lists resources to get help if you or someone you know has a mental illness, is struggling emotionally, or has concerns about their mental health.

○ National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) HelpLine has volunteers working to answer questions, offer support and provide practical next steps. You can also check the resources page here.

○ The PTSD Coach app can help you learn about and manage symptoms that often occur after trauma.
