March is National Nutrition Month, which invites everyone to learn about informed food choices and develop healthy eating and physical activity habits. There is no one-size-fits-all approach to nutrition and health. We are all unique with different bodies, goals, backgrounds, and tastes! A Registered Dietitian Nutritionist can tailor a healthful eating plan that is as special as you are.

Working Food offers open air and online farmers markets on alternating Thursdays, 4:00 PM to 6:30 PM to you get access with fresh produce from local farmers.

HealthStreet continues to serve you with our dedicated Community Health Workers (CHWs). This week our team will be at the following locations, in addition to other places:

+ Oaks Church Food Distribution

+Library Partnership

+Grace Marketplace

Each week, CHWs are all over the city providing FREE health resources, like Deterra™ Deactivation Bags and NARCAN® Nasal Spray, blood pressure checks, referrals, help you know which research studies you may be eligible for, and sign you up to become a HealthStreet member.

If you missed our Community Health Workers while they were on outreach, stop by HealthStreet at 2401 SW Archer Rd, Gainesville, FL 32608. Our hours of operation are Monday through Friday, 10 AM to 4 PM. We offer a clothing and toiletry closet, and we can provide you with health-related resources and referrals.

Interested in participating in research?

Here are a few studies that you can participate in now:

+The Role of Parents in Physical Activity Engagement among Adolescents with Comorbid Asthma and Obesity (Children with Asthma & Obesity) study identifying caregiver-level barriers to and facilitators of physical activity among youth with asthma and obesity. Eligible participants must be a caregiver, 18-85 years of age, of a child 13-18 years of age that is diagnosed with asthma and has a BMI at or above the 85th percentile. 

+The To Determine the Activity and Mechanisms of Cranberries to Attenuate Skin Photoaging and Improve Skin Health in Women study is determining whether cranberry juice improves skin health in women. Eligible participants must be 45-65 years old, female, White, at least 110 pounds, and have a BMI of 18.5-29.9.
