Special Black History Month Premiere of the solo play Never Had a Friend
The Special Black History Month Premiere of the solo play Never Had a Friend (NHAF) debuts Saturday, February 4th, 2023, at 6:00 p.m. at the Phillips Center. This play depicts the incredible true story of how a lonely child living in a homeless shelter survived trauma, loneliness, and social disadvantage to become a college professor. Featuring over a dozen characters and multiple types of performance art, NHAF takes audiences on a fantastic journey filled with laughter, tears, terror, and hope. This gripping performance delivers an unprecedented view of homeless life through the eyes of a child. The story ties his contemporary challenges to historical and systemic issues -making it the perfect play for Black History Month.
Tickets are free but RSVP is required to reserve a ticket.
