As a part of the University of Florida campus, possession of a firearm at HealthStreet is strictly prohibited. Please note this information from the University of Florida Police Chief:
I’d like to take this opportunity to provide you with accurate information about the new “permitless carry” law that went into effect on Saturday. To clarify, possession of a firearm at the University of Florida, and at all other colleges and universities in Florida, is still prohibited.
Under this new Florida law, gun owners no longer need a permit to carry a concealed weapon. However, the law did not change regarding where a person can and cannot carry a firearm. It also did not change regarding who can purchase or carry one: Only those who are legally eligible can do so.
If you own a firearm and intend to carry without a permit, I urge you to familiarize yourself with Florida laws regarding weapons and firearms. Willful ignorance is not a defense.
Owning a firearm is a considerable responsibility. Carrying one is even more consequential.
Please do your part in helping us keep our campus safe.
