National Alcohol Awareness Month
April is Alcohol Awareness Month, a time to raise awareness and understanding of alcohol misuse.
Alcohol misuse, which includes binge drinking and heavy drinking, increases the risk of harmful consequences including alcohol use disorder (AUD).
Over time, excessive alcohol consumption can lead to the development of chronic diseases and other serious issues that affect your quality of life, physical and mental health.
For more information on Alcohol Awareness Month, click here.
Below is the history of heavy alcohol use in the past 30 days among HealthStreet members by age and sex. Among men, the rate of heavy drinking is highest among 25 to 34 year old and drops among those who are 65+. For women, rates are highest among the youngest age group and decrease as age increases. In our sample, women 65+ have half the rate of heavy drinking as men of the same age.

Cottage Cheese Sweet Potato Beef/Chicken Bowl This week's recipe is the viral cottage cheese, sweet potato and ground beef/chicken bowl! This meal is the perfect mix of spicy, savory and sweet. It's a must try!
Ingredients:
- 1 pound of ground beef or chicken
- 2 medium sweet potatoes
- 1 avocado
- 2 cups cottage cheese
- Taco seasoning (or seasonings of choice)
Instructions:
- In a skillet, brown the ground beef/chicken over medium heat, breaking it up as you go. Add taco seasoning, or seasonings of choice, and mix well. Set aside.
- Roast or air fry sweet potatoes until fork-tender. I cooked mine in the air fryer at 400 degrees F for 13 minutes with avocado oil spray and seasonings.
- Start with a base of cooked sweet potatoes, then add a generous scoop of cottage cheese.
- Top with the seasoned beef and sliced avocado.
- Optional: Finish it off with hot honey and hot sauce for that sweet-spicy kick. Mix it all together for the ultimate flavor explosion!

Consider Donating to HealthStreet
Together, we can make a difference!
Your donation will directly support essential services and truly make a difference in our community. Every dollar you contribute helps us take steps towards reducing disparities that affect so many.
Just imagine the impact of your generosity: for $25, you can provide 15 personal care items, ensuring dignity and basic hygiene for those in need. With $50, we can purchase 16 daily bus passes to RTS, giving individuals reliable transportation to access vital jobs, healthcare, and services. And with $100, we can fuel the vehicles that our Community Health Workers use with 32 gallons of gasoline, enabling them to reach those in need and provide critical referrals and support.
We are also asking for direct donations of personal care items such as: shampoo, conditioner, bar soap, body wash, shaving kits & cream, toothpaste, toothbrushes, combs, deodorant, floss, pads, tampons, disposable wipes, hairbrushes and diapers.
Another way that you can make an impact in our community is by donating to the HealthStreet Clothing Closet! There is an ongoing need of the following items: men's clothing, women's clothing, children's clothing, baby clothing, coats, gloves, beanies, scarfs and blankets.
Clothing and personal care items can be directly donated at our HealthStreet location anytime between 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., so we can place these items into the hands of those who need them.
Let’s join forces and create an extraordinary impact together!
Thank you for your kindness!
